Canada150-smallAntonina Cox is a fine musician, versatile accompanist and teacher for over 30 years and is highly regarded in the Calgary fine music community.

Native of Belarus, she received extensive training in Belarus, Russia, and Canada for over 30 years. She studied many musical disciplines, majoring in piano and musicology at the Special Music School in Minsk (Belarus) and St. Petersburg Conservatory (Russia). 

Upon arrival to Canada she decided to take organ lessons at the Mount Royal Organ Academy (with T. Fullerton and later, Neil Cockburn).

Upon excelling in exams, she obtained certificatation with Royal Canadian College of Organists. She also took studies in a program “Master of Teaching” at the U of Calgary and taught music in various elementary schools.

As a pianist and organist she has worked with choirs and soloists, including Calgary Bach Society, Calgary Women’s Chorus, Okotoks’ Big Rock Singers, Calgary Choral Society, Cantare Children’s Choir, Revv 52, the Dutch Canadian Choir, Mount Royal Children’s Choir, and many more.

She has provided accompaniment for many elementary and high school productions and accompanied dancers at the Alberta Ballet. She has traveled with singers and dancers from Russia and Canada to many countries the US, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Vatican, Bulgaria, Australia and New Zealand.

An exceptional musician, Antonina provides beautiful live music in many styles – classical, jazz and popular. She often plays solo or in duet at the events, parties, church services and finds it exciting and rewarding. 

Antonina Cox is a gifted and sensitive accompanist with excellent sight-reading, technique and musicianship, cited by one conductor as the “Queen of sight-reading”. She also likes to sing in vocal groups and has sung with the internationally known group Camerata from Minsk, Belarus.

Antonina is a passionate and creative teacher for many years who guides musicians from beginner level through advanced. She takes beginners starting at five to six years old, focusing on necessary piano skills and musicianship. She teaches on a grand piano and on the organ in two locations in Calgary’s SE and NW. 

Many of her students receive high marks from adjudicators at festivals & exams. Antonina offers assessments of young children (in 1-2 sessions), identifying specific musical gifts and helps families in making educated decisions.
